Kathleen's Red Velvet Cupcakes

A classic favorite, these red velvet cupcakes are moist and tasty. They are perfect for any time you want a sweet treat because they are bright red and taste like rich cocoa.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cocoa powder
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Cream cheese frosting for topping

Instructions:

Start by heating the oven to 350F 175C

Put flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder in a bowl and mix them together

With a whisk, mix the vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, vinegar, red food coloring, and vanilla extract in a different bowl

Slowly add the wet mixture to the dry ones and mix them together until they are well mixed

Put paper liners in a cupcake pan and fill each one about two thirds of the way to the top with batter

After the oven is hot, bake it for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick stuck in the middle comes out clean

On a wire rack, let the cupcakes cool all the way down

Cream cheese frosting should be put on the cupcakes after they have cooled

Decorate however you like, and have fun!
